Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled. Heb 12:15
A dimension of filthiness that prevents one from benefiting from God’s Word is the filthiness of offence: the filthiness of bitterness or wrath. The Bible calls offence a defilement. ‘Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you and thereby many be defiled’ Heb 12:15.
The root of offense and bitterness suffocates. It hardens the heart of the person. Anytime you see a person that is bitter, unforgiving and vengeful, trying to take vengeance on people, such person has a heart that is too hard for the Word of God to grow.
Every time the devil comes to make your heart bitter and vengeful, he has succeeded in hardening you to the Word of God. A man that cannot forgive cannot be fruitful. A woman that cannot forgive cannot be fruitful with the Word of God or in any realm of life. Look at the life of Joseph. After he came into Egypt, he had to forgive his brethren. This was the reason he named his first child Manasseh meaning forgotten. He named his second child Ephraim meaning fruitful.
So, in order to be fruitful, you must learn to forgive and God will help you as you do so.
