REJOICE IN THE LORD

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. PHILIPPIANS 4:4

About the last article on depression, here is more things that you should know and also what you need to do to come out of it

Depression is called the spirit of heaviness according to Isaiah 61:3, ‘To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified’.So, You must fight it. Learn to fight depression so it doesn’t destroy or limit you. You have only one life to live, make the choice that you will enjoy it with or without certain things you think you must need, like an accommodation, a spouse, a car, money or job just make up your mind that you must enjoy your life no matter what, these things might not be there yet and only God knows when He will give them to you. But in the main time rejoice.

Always rejoice in the Lord, rejoice and let the devil be the one depressed that you are being happy in the Lord of your salvation. Have a merry heart. Proverb 17:22 says, ‘A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones’. The devil wants you to cry but laugh instead, he wants you to mourn but why not dance instead, always learn to do the opposite of everything the devil wants you to do. Make the choice to rejoice!

One of the things you need to do to eliminate depression from your life is to watch your environment. There are some pictures around you that you will have to remove. there are some people, a house or a living environment, some things that you may have to move away from to avoid depression. A small apartment where you have peace of mind is better than a mansion where you don’t have peace.

There may be a particular so called friend that may be a melancholic or just a person who whenever he is around you is always saying negative things like, ‘sorry, its well’ like Job friends in the Bible, who wont help you feel better or encourage you positively.

there are some people whose very presence carries a spirit that is negative, that can infest you and your environment. Give such people some space don’t hate hate them though, they are not your enemies, just keep them in a distance. Always guard your joy with jealousy.

Cut off every telephone call, or a TV or radio program that will make you depressed and I see God fulfilling His purpose in your life, in the Name of Jesus. Remain Blessed.

  1. Well said. Reading he Psalms is another good way to fight depression and keep a spirit of praise. I have been studying through the psalms on my blog at https://www.petertgardner.wordpress.com. It has been fascinating to see the mood swings of David, and how he always goes back to prasing God and rejoicing in the Lord. I would recommend anyone fighting depression to get into the Psalms

  2. Exactly, i remember the Bible, saying and David encouraged himself in the Lord, 1samuel 30:6. the joy of the Lord is our strength Neh 8:10, so your right, David wrote psalms which means ‘A sacred song used to praise or worship God’. and praise is actually one of the therapy for depression. so psalms will work perfectly, thanks for the insight..
