The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. PSALM 18:2
In my last article I wrote about the deliverance capacity of God. God is able to deliver us and He cares for the welfare of His people, He is continually ready to help us and protect us from the plans of the devil. Though there are certain keys we need to apply so as to experience the deliverance power of God, things we need to do. I will write on that briefly.
1.) Live in the secrets of God : psalm 91:1, ‘He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.’ Hide yourself inside divine secrets. Let insight cover you. Hide yourself in Scriptural revelation. Hide your life inside light, darkness losses power when it comes in contact with light. The secret you access determines the shade you enjoy. Job 29:4 says, ‘As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle’ . Job enjoyed prosperity and divine preservation by the secrets of God he knew. Anywhere you see a man shielded from what others are going through, he has secrets that others don’t have.
2.) Be watchful and prayerful : Luke 21:36, ‘Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.’ To fail to watch and pray is to be trapped. Be awake alert and aware in the spirit, avoid spiritual slothfulness and slumbering. When your asleep the devil is at work. When your prayer alter is dead means the devil is at work. Nobody can look after you like you. No matter how prayerful a person is (your pastor, or some other brother or sister in the faith who prays for you), your own prayer is most important. Mercy Keeps you when your not praying. Take responsibility of yourself. When last did you tell someone else to eat for you or that a person should go to the convenience for you? The most important things in life you have to do it yourself. Also remember never to shrug away prayer burden or fasting burden, that is, those times you feel the pressure to pray or fast.
3.) Refuse to give up on God, on life, and on yourself : Proverbs 15:13, ‘A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.’ The main defense of a man is the spirit. Proverbs 18:14 says, ‘The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?’ It is your spirit that fights off infirmities, the sadness of the countenance is equal to the defeat of the spirit and that leads to defeat in life and destiny. Depression invites destruction, depression can lead to death. Ordinary illness like cough and catarrh can kill a person with depression. Until you reject depression you have not rejected destruction. People who commit suicide are most times depressed before they go into it. Until hope is alive help is not on its way.
4.) Maintain spiritual cover : Hosea 12:13, ‘ And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.’ Your prophet has a role to play in your preservation. When Saul wanted to kill a priest in 1 Samuel 22 he ran unto David and he was saved. He was preserved by prophetic covering. Value your prophetic cover, listen to your prophet’s instructions, go in the direction of your spiritual father. Don’t go contrary to the direction of your cover. Only those who sailed with Paul in Acts 27:22-25 survived the shipwreck. Take steps in the step of your prophet and let his examples be your principles.
May God bless you as you put these keys into practice in Jesus’ Name.
